About
Safe Schools Coalition Victoria (SSCV) is a coalition of schools and individuals dedicated to creating safer educational environments where every family can belong, every teacher can teach, and every student can learn.
SSCV provides training, resources and consultancy for every school in Victoria to support gender and sexual diversity, reduce bullying, and improve school performance.
The project is funded by the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) and the Department of Health.
“DEECD is committed to providing safe, secure and inclusive learning environments for all young people. Our support for Safe Schools Coalition Victoria is an important step in ensuring that school communities have the resources and confidence to challenge homophobia and support sexual and gender diversity. Safe Schools Coalition Victoria provides a number of valuable opportunities for staff professional learning, resources, and consultancy”.

TESTIMONIALS
"I just wanted to email to say how proud and happy and supported it made me feel to see all the news, resources and just how many schools have joined. As a young same-sex attracted person, I just wanted you to know how wonderful and safe it made me feel to live in a state that would work so tirelessly to support its young same-sex students."
—Teri, age 17
"The training left me feeling that I really can impact upon the homophobic culture in my school."
—Classroom teacher
"The most useful part of the training was the opportunity to reflect on our current practice and then give us ideas on how to improve further. Fantastic."
—Student Welfare Coordinator
“It’s great to know that this project is helping to make my son’s school safer, I think every school should be a part of it.”
